Stephen Roche, retired Irish professional cyclist, was born on the 28th of November 1959 in Dublin. Roche started his cycling career in 1981. He was at the peak of his career in 1987, when he became the only second cyclist in history to win the Triple Crown -Tour de France-Giro d'Italia-World Cycling Championship. Additionally, Stephen is still the only cyclist to have won the Tour of Romandie 3 times. Among his 68 professional wins, Stephen won Paris-Nice (1981), the Tour of Corsica (1981), the Tour of Midi Pyrénées (1985), the Tour of Valencia (1987), the Tour of Pays Basque (1989) and the 4 days de Dunkerque (1990). Although he has been retired since 1993, Stephen remained active in the cycling world through his cycling camps in Majorca and commentates for eurosport.
